Monthly Networking Event, Luncheon, and "Grid Friendly Technologies" Presented by David Chassin, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

David Chassin will provide background on the GridWise program and discuss the demand response andGrid Friendly (TM) technologies that the Pacific Northwest National Lab is demonstrating around the region this year. Grid Friendly Technologies utilize 1x2.5 inch circuit boards installed in appliances, such as air conditioners and water heaters, to monitor the power grid and trun off the appliance for a short period of time in response to grid overload. use of these inexpensive chips results in more reliable power grids, smaller electricity bills, and a cleaner environment due to the chip'sefficiency.

David P. Chassin received his BS of Building Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He is staff scientist with the Energy Science & Technology division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory where he has worked since 1992. His recent research focuses on the application of emerging theories of complexity as they relate to high-performance simulation and modeling in building controls and power systems.

The luncheon site is the Sheraton Hotel in Bellevue @ 100 112th Avenue NE, Bellevue 98004-5817. Check-in begins at 11:30 and lunch is served at 12:00. Time for questions is included.
