10 Important Issues for Lighting in 2006!

Join us in welcoming Michael Lane, of the Lighting Design Lab, on Tuesday, at the September 12 Monthly Luncheon and Networking Event. Please register in advance by contacting the League Office or registering here on the website.

What are the 10 things you should know about lighting in 2006? Have LEDs finally become an architectural light source? Should we only be using High-Performance T8s? Have HID lamps in high ceilings gone the way of the 8 track tape? Will controls ever work? Are energy codes changing again? Should you run away when someone says LEED? And more! Come and learn about how lighting will affect you now and in the future.

Michael Lane is the lead lighting specialist at the Lighting Design Lab and has been with the Lab since its inception in 1989. He received Bachelor of Architecture from Washington State University in 1982, and has specialized in the lighting field for over 24 years. He has worked for lighting design firms in New York City from 1982-1983, in Boston from 1984-1985, and in Seattle with his own firm from 1986 until starting at the Lighting Lab. Michael is a member of the IESNA and was in the first class to be Lightiing Certified (LC) by NCQLP. He also serves on the IESNA Educational Materials, Sustainable Ligting & Energy Management Committees, the ASHRAE 90.1 Energy Committee and the LEED Sustainable Site Committee. In 2004 Michael received the IESNA Section Meritorious Service Award and the IESNA Presidential Award.

The Lighting Design Lab is a non-profit working resource center combining the art of lighting and the science of energy efficiency. The lab is designed to meet the needs of commercial lighting designers, specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors, facilities managers, and others interested in the latest, most efficient lighting applications. Displays and demonstrations showcase the latest products. Hands-on facilities and a computer lab let you simulate almost any lighting environment. Staff consultations provide in-depth assistance. An extensive library, lighting classes, and calendar of events keep you informed and up-to-date.
