Please join us for the Electric League's Monthly Luncheon and Networking Event, Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Puget Sound Energy Auditorium in the EST Conference Center Building, 355 110th Avenue NE, Bellevue, 98004. Check-in begins at 11:30 with buffet beginning at 11:45, followed by announcements and our speaker. The meeting adjourns in the vicinity of 1:00 p.m. Be sure to park on levels P5-P7 of the parking garage - parking vouchers are provided.

Advance registration and payment is required and is being accepted now. Please assist our planning by registering early. League Members: $25; Non-Members: $30. A late fee applies for registrations received after Tuesday, March 18.

MARCH SPEAKER AND TOPIC: "Lightning Protection and Grounding Principles" presented by Tom Streeter, Erico Inc.

Anyone involved with specifying, installing, or maintaining a code compliant ground grid will want to attend the March luncheon. Mr. Streeter will discuss basic grounding principles for commercial, industrial and utility markets including lightning protection and grounding applications. The presentation will include information about how lightning forms and many facts associated with lightning. Mr. Streeter will also addresss UL1992 and JVSS, 3rd Edition.

Included in the presentation: Six Components of a Lightning Strike

Capture the lightning
Conduct the lightning energy to the ground
Dissipate energy to ground
Properly bond all grounds
Power distribution surge suppression
Telecommunication and data protection

Speaker Bio:

Tom Streeter is the North Central Regional Manager for ERITECH grounding, bonding, lightning protection and surge protection product. Previous employment included regional responsibilites for Tyco Electronics - Raychem, AMP, Dulmison and Area Lighting Research. He has a BA in Finance and Marketing from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota.
